In 2003 the first KIPP (Knowledge Is Power Program) school opened in the city of Philadelphia, KIPP Philadelphia Charter School. After six years, we have opened our second school, KIPP West Philadelphia Preparatory Charter School (KWPP). As part of the KIPP network of high-performing college-preparatory schools, KWPP is a free, open-enrollment public charter school that currently serves 90 fifth students in just the fifth grade. The school will expand one grade every year until it reaches full capacity with approximately 330-340 students in grades 5 through 8.
